Comments: To my surprise, I enjoyed this book. Barack gives great detail of his life in Hawaii, Indonesia, Chicago and his trip “home” to Kenya. It’s sad that his father moved so far away when he was a boy; his mother remarried to an Indonesian man who treated him like his own son. He had many struggles in his young life, which I think, has made him a strong leader. It seems to me, his religious beliefs are more in humanism with a lean toward Islam (both his father and his step father were Islamic, although in his next book he says that he choose Christianity as his religion). His political goals seem idealistic to me. I think I would like him as a neighbor if he lived next door, but I don’t think I could vote for him as president.
