Comments: This novel was given to me by one of my daughters for my birthday. Once begun, it was hard to put it down. As I read this, I almost forgot is was fiction. Hosseini tells a story about the lives of children, Amir and Hassan, growing up in Afghanistan before and then during the Taliban reign. In the beginning you see Afghanistan as a beautiful country, in the end you see the devastations of war and horrors of the Taliban. I don’t read much fiction, but this one I recommend. My heart goes out to the Afghan people.
